It is unlikely that you are eligible for expungement right now, but we are working to change that.
Our campaign is seeking to reduce the number of offenses that can never be expunged. The current law requires courts to approve or deny all eligible cases of expungement, even after the record has been shown to be eligible. By reducing the number of offenses that are automatically ineligible, the proposed reform would give people a chance to make the case for their record to be expunged.
In the meantime, we still recommend that you speak with a lawyer about your individual case. If your case has been closed for 3 or more years in the case of a misdemeanor, or 7 or more years in the case of a felony, it may be eligible for sealing.
