Am I Eligible to Expunge My Record?

A juvenile record does not go away on its own, and it can be a serious barrier to a good job, housing, or academic programs. The good news: some juvenile and criminal records can be erased through a process called expungement, and as of October 2018, many people can start the expungement process at ANY AGE! This self-screener can help you figure out if your record may qualify for expungement.

Most people are better off expunging their record but there are times when you should not proceed on your own:

  • If you are not a US citizen, speak to a lawyer before you seal or expunge a record.

  • If you are challenging your case, (for example, because you were falsely accused or your case was part of the drug lab scandal), you too should speak to your lawyer first so sealing or expungement doesn’t impact your case.
